I would recommend installing the 2008 client tools, but I would not recommend uninstalling the 2005 tools. There are probably other things, but those are the major ones. SQL Server 2000 maintenance plans cannot be edited in 2008 client tools, unless you download and install the backward compatibility tools for DTS.Activity Monitor in 2008 cannot be used against a 2000 instance (the Activity Monitor in 2005 client tools can).You cannot connect to an instance of SSRS or SSIS running 2005 from a 2008 client.SSRS/SSIS packages that need to be deployed to a 2005 instance cannot be built using the 2008 Business Intelligence Development tool (BIDS). There are certain things that cannot be done from the 2008 client tools: There is no reason to uninstall the 2005 client tools - unless you are absolutely sure you will not ever need to do something with those systems that cannot be done in the 2008 client tools.
